Emily Irene VanCamp, who initially wanted to become an professional dancer, was interested in the acting field after she visited her sibling Katie on the Ladies Room set. She began to take acting classes and simultaneously landed guest spots on TV series from her home country of Canada. Some of the shows she had starred in among others included Are You afraid of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp had a career breakthrough following his appearance as regular Sam Dolan on the WB horror mystery show Glory Days. Though the show garnered positive critiques, it's poor ratings caused it to be removed after only nine episodes. In reality, she was swift in landing a second role as Amy Abbott on Everwood. Her role in the film was rewarded with four Teen Choice Awards nominations and the Young Artist Award.
